NHL.com put up a video feature on Cory Conacher Thursday night, which included exclusive interviews with Conacher, his parents Dave and Debbie, teammate Martin St. Louis and Tampa head coach Guy Boucher, along with a few classic photos of Conacher growing up.
While The Griffin has written about Conacher overcoming Type 1 diabetes, the video told of another story from Conacher’s childhood: how he was born with his bladder outside of his body, which, according to his mother, happens to 1 in 50,000 children. Conacher had to have a 10-hour surgery to right the problem when he was five days old, and as a result, doesn’t have a belly button.
I highly recommend watching the full video and reading the accompanying story, which they reposted from last week.
